Who are we……
Montem is the latin word for Mountain, which was the ideal name for our business, Montem Bike Tours.
Established in 2018, Montem Bike Tours was developed to provide exciting new tours and bike hire on the Mid North Coast.
Joint owners / operators, Olly and Kristy will share their passion of mountain biking, their love of the great outdoors and everything to do within the Mid North Coast of Australia. Your comfort, safety and enjoyment is our focus so that you have a great time exploring one of the best parts of the world.
MEET OUR TEAM
Oliver (known as Olly) & Kristy (known as Kristy ) – Owners/Riders
Olly grew up in Switzerland, so yes loves the hill climbs and can basically ride with this eyes closed! Olly moved to Cairns, Australia about 11 years ago and then relocated to Kempsey, NSW about 4 years ago. Olly has always been riding, since his single digit days, his passion is bike riding and now being able to share the riding experience with locals and guests to the mid north coast is his dream.
Kristy is originally from Armidale, NSW moving to the Coffs Coast about 7 years ago. Kristy rode a bike in her teens, however started again through the push of her sister & brother-in-law as they were keen road cyclists, saw her purchase her first mountain bike for $200. When moving to the Coffs Coast and riding with a social ladies group, her passion grew and the real mountain biking started.
Upon Olly & Kristy meeting nearly 4 years ago, every weekend was on the bike and exploring our wonderful area. This is when Montem took form. Instead of exploring by bike with just the two of them, having the opportunity to share these experiences with locals and visitors to the region was going to be a reality.

A last-minute decision to join a 3-day, LADIES ONLY, MTB clinic on Mt Buller in North east Victoria with a borrowed bike over 10 years ago. That is how it all started, and I haven’t looked back since!
The rocky mountain hills were no match for my trusty steed so with a little help from a hire company like Montem, I was on my way to a new MTB adventure stretching from Aust to the northern shores of Canada.” Sharing trails with, squirrels, bears and even wolves, MTB life can be muddy, scary but most of all FUN. It has brought my family together like no other sport”
Tina has been coaching school groups and women’s clinics along the east coast up as far as Cairns and even Darwin sharing her passion on two wheels. In 2014 she became one of the first internationally recognised Level 1 PMBI female instructor within the Professional Mountain Bike instructor’s association. Tina had the privilege of being coached directly by Paul, the highly successful, Whistler based company and founder of PMBI to deliver effective teaching strategies to produce safer, more effective Instructors & Guides.
Tina brings a multitude of bike skills and experience to the Coffs region and we are thrilled to have her in Team Montem.
Eugen (also known as Olly’s Dad) – Rider & Assistant with Everything
Eugen is definately our ‘go to’ assistant for everything – Tours, Coaching assistant, knowledge.
From the early age, sport was always part of Eugen’s life. Gymnastics dominated his years into the late teens while cycling was the means to transfer from A to B. This was followed by regular Squash, some Basketball, some Tennis then later Fistball (regional champion). In the mid 1980ies he bought a mountain bike for his son which he ended up using mostly himself, which included several rides in the Swiss Jura and Alps. After moving to Cairns, he was supporting several tough Swiss mountain bikers in five consecutive years who participated in the gruelling 10 stage race, the Crocodile Trophy. That is when he was truly infected with the MTB-virus. He raced the RRR (Rural to Rainforest to Reef) with his son’s original K2 bike without any suspension (ouch!) and many years later some local club races on the mid north coast of NSW. Now, he’s still whinging about the missing category for 70+ year old maniac riders.

Our unique mountain bikes are just the bikes for our guided tours around the Mid North Coast of Australia. Alternatively, our rental cruisers are super comfortable and perfect to explore the coast at your own pace.
Fresh air, support and empowerment are all important factors that the Montem Team live by in making life changing moments for our clients with a disability. We focus on individual support, therefore please give us a call for more details.
The Montem Team are accreditered MTB coaches who love to teach and get the whole family outside. We run private MTB sessions for both males and females; learn to ride days; school holiday clinics, social rides and alot more.
We are constantly creating new routes as there is so much to explore on the Mid North Coast.
We cater for customised tours for small groups, team building, school activities and birthday parties.
